CPT for Employers

CPT stands for Curricular Practical Training. It is a type of work authorization for F-1 students who are currently pursuing degree programs at ISU and have completed one academic year.

OPT for Employers

OPT stands for Optional Practical Training. It is a type of work authorization for F-1 students who have finished their degree program and were enrolled full-time for two consecutive semesters immediately preceding OPT.

STEM for Employers

STEM OPT is a 24-month extension of a student’s 12-month OPT, for a total of 36 months. The student must have completed a STEM designated degree from an SEVP-certified school.
